Day 3

Today was really difficult for some reason. I couldn't thing of what to draw, and then tried too hard. I finally just gave up and choose a couple sketches I did that I don't completely hate. Tomorrow I'll have more time and maybe I'll get excited about something. Also, my scanner automatically adjusts the images I scan. I'm going to have to play with it so it stops doing that. It makes some images hard to read.
Here I was just trying to loosen up.

Day 2

I had a dream last night that my dog, Stella, helped me defeat the Darkspawn. It was pretty awesome. So this is for her. I may add some chaos and destruction in the background if I get motivated.

Feb 1st Sketch

Didn't post my first sketch yesterday because frankly I did it, but forgot to post it here. Ooops! :D
Anyways, this is just a doodle of a character for a comic I'm working on in my spare time. Obviously it's not much to look at since she's walking away.... yeah, sorry about that! I'm hoping to relearn how to paint in photoshop so you may see this again as another day this month if it looks pretty enough.

I just signed up for a challenge called Draw Every Day February. Starting tomorrow, plan to see a new drawing/ sketch each day this month!

Zoo Mug Layout

This is a sample assignment I did for Nanco Nancy Toys to be considered for a job. I still haven't heard back from them as they may not know till the end of October how many people they might hire for contract illustrators. The woman who interviewed me really liked my work so we'll see.

hello....hello hello hello

Oooh! I'm updating on anna's new iPod touch! It's proving to be a pain!
I'm not going to let this journal go to waste I've decided to use it as a journal and art blog. Though I could make a new one for life stuff,
that's no fun though.
This one finger typing sucks.
to be quick, life is a bit crazy right now but my financial status is improving in a week or two, my love life is in termoil, and artwose I'm doing very little. I did, however apply for a concept illustrator job for a toy and souvenir company. I won't find out about it till october. They really liked my work quite a bit.

Okay, goodbye for now, maybe a more in depth post will come shortly. Maybe it will include art?

Status: internet is dissapointing

So I've been having trouble updating recently. I don't have internet so I need to save a couple bucks and try updating from a coffee shop in the next day or so because when I try to *borrow* internet from neighbors it just ends in pain and misery. I'm sorry!

AlsoI'm putting watermarks over my art that I upload from now on specifically because I'm worried about this Orphan Works bill everyone keeps talking about. Check out the Illustrator's Partnership for more information about this bill.

Greener Cover

The final for Illustration 4 was to do your "dream job", what you'd ultimately like to get paid to do. I'd really love to do comic covers, so I decided to do the cover of my InPrint comic(the comic I'm doing over Christmas Break). I like everything except for the man, I'm going to have to redo him or something. He's just too... lame. I also had decided to not put a background in behind him because there was so much other stuff going on and I really didn't want you to know where he was, but I may have to go in and add a vague light background. We'll see. Other than that I'm really satisfied with this piece, surprisingly.

Degree Project

I finally scanned Degree Project images!
My project is based on travel, in all of it's forms. Overall it is mostly based on everyday travel, or day trips. To be even more specific I want to focus on the people at these places rather than the places themselves. I want to try to convey the feeling and essence of each piece and the spirit of traveling with friends, whether to school, work or on a more extensive trip.

My first piece is a collage of pictures from Rockport, Ma with my roomate and friend Pat, and from Marblehead, Ma with my other best friend Caitlin. It's in probably my favorite medium ever, colored pencil.

This next piece is of a man who carves decoy birds which are definitely more art pieces in and of themselves. I've been to the Wellfleet Oyster Festival two years in a row and he's been there both times. He was wonderful.

And here's a touched up version of a piece I did at the beginning of the semester.
We had to do a pen nib and ink children's book illustration. I chose to do a scene from the original Pinocchio story. I tried a lot of techniques I was unfamiliar with so I wouldn't mind redoing it and making it more unified.
